The Intricate Relationship between Humans and Water in Florida


Steven Noll, PhD Master Lecturer, University of Florida.  Lead Scholar, Smithsonian-Florida Humanities Water/Ways-- invites the audience to consider the ways in which we are changing the limited resource that sustains our lives.  People have reshaped the land and the water of the Sunshine State to make it more inhabitable- in the process, they are destroying valuable ecosystems and endangering our water supply.

Marine Science Summer Series: Creatures on the Beach

Join Florida Sea Grant Agent Carolyn Kovacs to learn more about invertebrates that call our ecosystems home and learn to identify some of those mysterious artifacts you may have found washed up on the beach! This free educational program is open to all ages. They will start under the pavilion near the parking at the main entrance to the preserve and will end the program with a short walk on the beach, so come prepared with water and sun protection.

Water/Ways Exhibition: The Power of Water

 Randy Stapleford, Florida Inland Navigation District Board of Commissioners. Stapleford is also a retired U.S. Navy Captain, aviator and current district aide for military and veterans affairs in the office of U.S. Congressman Michael Waltz. Stapleford will discuss projects related to the flow of the natural waters into the Intracoastal Waterway, such as the Palm Coast waterfront project, Flagler Beach waterfront project, the Bings Landing project and others.
